Higher land is slower to conquer in the game. Void is impassable: it cannot be owned, attacked or nuked, and makes the map non-rectangular.

OpenFront recommends 2–3 million pixels and at most 3 million land tiles. Sizes snap to multiples of 4.

Official maps

Loads the map's source image and nations from the OpenFront repository so you can remix it.

Image to map

Any picture works: a photo, a sketch, a logo, a heightmap or a real map. You can also drop or paste (Ctrl+V) an image onto the canvas. A tracing layer sits on top of the map so you can paint over a real coastline.

Nations file

Nations 0

Pick the flag tool N and click the map to add a spawn. Drag to move, right-click or Del to remove. The flag is an ISO code such as pl or us.

Download

The game files are made with the same rules as OpenFront's own generator, byte for byte. OpenFront cannot load a custom map from a file yet, so a new map goes into the game through a pull request; the README in the .zip explains how.
